As every one knows that this is the holiday season, now is a good time to take a moment to remind ourselves why Edible Arrangements in this business, and to appreciate that we truly do deliver happiness to people… for gifts, to express thanks, and in times of sadness. Gary Lombard, owner of store#1115 in Vienna, WV shared this story from one his customers. Gary explained arrangements over again.
Gary’s customer, Carole McDonald found out that Paul, a high school classmate was terminally ill, and she sent an arrangement on behalf of the class of 1968. According to the email sent to the store by the customer, “it took you all several days to find the recipient to be able to make the delivery. The time that you took to deliver the arrangement was beyond what any other business would have taken the time to do and that special time was appreciated more than you could possibly realize. Paul passed away a few days after receiving the arrangement and I thought you would want to know how much that arrangement meant to Paul and Linda.”

We received an Edible Arrangement from the class of 1968 and it was very appreciated. Actually a piece of pineapple from that arrangement was Paul’s last meal on Earth. He had not eaten any solid food for a long, long time. When he saw the arrangement, he agree to try a pineapple piece, shocking me after refusing food for so long. He accepted no more solid food after that.
I must tell you a story about the meaning of pineapple. On one of our vacations we visited a plantation outside of Charleston, South Carolina. Our tour concluded with a tour guide explaining the tradition of plantation owners. As the entertained guests for dinner, they brought out a pineapple at the end as a symbolic notice that it was time for the guests to say, “Goodbye”. So Paul’s final meal was a way for him to say goodbye to all of you, the Class of 1968. Please share this story with all of your classmates.
