Hong Kong’s 8th Winter Choral Festival 2017

October 18, 2017

Indulge in the musical learning journey and enjoy enthralling performances and lasting memories at the 8th Winter Choral Festival 2017 from 28 November – 1 December 2017.  Gay Games Hong Kong 2022 encapsules more than just sports and competition — it’s also about showcasing all of the unique local culture amongst Hong Kong’s diverse population, like the choral festival. As the first ever Asian city to host the Gay Games, Hong Kong will have a pivotal role to play in ensuring that such an international sporting and cultural event will enrich and promote the LGBT+ choral culture throughout the Asia Pacific region.

The Winter Choral Festival has come a long way since it began back in 2009. Designed to provide an educational and positive music learning experience for school bands from primary to college level, the 8th Winter Choral Festival 2017 promises to be an educational and motivational event that you want to be a part of.

“The only thing better than singing is more singing.” – Ella Fitzgerald

Gay Games Hong Kong 2022 will include the Choral Festival, adding a cultural dimension to the many sporting events planned.  Together, we’ll rejoice as choruses from around the world travel to Hong Kong to sing and celebrate in unity together! This is just one of many cultural experiences that makes the Gay Games so diverse and distinctive. And by 2022, the West Kowloon Cultural District will be completed and this will provide the top-class Arts and Cultural events to complement the 2022 Gay Games, including Choral Concerts, Cantonese Opera and more. We are also working with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir to bring the Asia Pacific Choral Festival to Hong Kong prior to 2022.

Gay Games Hong Kong 2022 will be an empowering experience for all – anyone can participate- regardless of ability, age, sexual orientation, race, gender, nationality, political or religious beliefs, ethnic origins, or HIV status – allowing one’s passion for sports bloom without fear of being judged or stigmatized. Mooncakes are one of the most famous foods found in Chinese communities around the world this time of year. You see, every year on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, when the moon is at its fullest and brightest, Chinese and other Asian cultures celebrate The Mid-Autumn Festival. When served during Mid-Autumn Festival, sometimes referred to as the Mooncake Festival, mooncakes symbolize family reunion and the togetherness of the Chinese people. Delicately designed, a traditional mooncake is a dense, soft pastry filled with sweet lotus seed paste and savory salted duck egg yolk.

History of Mooncake Celebrations

When did the tradition start? The first official mention of “mooncake” was found in 1274 AD in author Wu Zi Mu’s “Book of Dreams”. Much later on, the first cookbook on how to prepare mooncakes was published in 1792. But the mooncake started long before, according to Chinese folklore in 619AD a Turpan businessman, offered cakes to Emperor Taizong of Tang after a victory on the 15th lunar month. While eating the cake, Taizong looked at the moon and invited it to enjoy the cake with him. He then shared the cake with his cabinet and thus the tradition of sharing the mooncake began.

Today there are many variations of Mooncakes throughout Hong Kong, China, and other world-wide Chinese communities. Although sweet lotus seed proves to still be the most popular some other popular variations include Red Bean Paste, Snow Skin, Chocolate, Green Tea,  and Five Kernel and Roast Pork. HIIT: High-Intensity Interval Training and utime Fitness

October 11, 2017

Most people associate moderate cardio with HIIT, but the two are widely different, especially regarding the intensity you put into training. utime Fitness Studios has excellent certified personal trainers who can assist with learning HIIT, along with customising a personal workout plan that will give you maximum results in the minimum amount of time. In its essence, High-Intensity Interval Training is cardio done, in short, intense bursts, followed by short breaks to recuperate.

HIIT can be an incredibly effective way to work out and see the body composition and fitness results you want, but you need to do it right. During the short, intense bursts of training, you have to push yourself to the max during every set. These bursts typically last anywhere from 20 to 90 seconds followed by rest for 60,120, 180 seconds. This constitutes 1:2 activity to rest ratio which is appropriate for beginners. Pros typically use a 1:1 ratio.

According to studies on HIIT, these short bursts are useful for increasing endurance, burning fat, and controlling insulin levels. HIIT also increases your overall metabolism, helping you keep fit even when not exercising. People who practice it feel like they are are losing fat faster.

HIIT is useful when you want well-defined muscles in the arms and legs. You can do this by using equipment such as dumbbells, Kettlebells, rowing machines, stationary bikes, treadmill and the stair climber. Training using machines, as opposed to body weight, is a more effective and efficient way by toning your muscles while spiking your heart rate.

After your HIIT workout, your body continues to burn more calories due to post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), also known as afterburn. For moderate cardio, the body usually burns about 7% of your total calories, but in HIIT this reaches approximately 13% of your total calories!

To best learn and benefit from HIIT training you should visit utime Fitness Studios in Kennedy Town, which is fully stocked with all the equipment required. In addition, utime staff are very knowledgeable about all our equipment and can assist you anytime during staffed hours. So, what are you waiting for? Primasia: Questions to Ask Before Committing to a Business Partner

October 11, 2017

The best time to address potential problems with your business partner is at the beginning- before rough times hit and emotions run high. It’s important to know as much as possible about a potential partner before diving into a new startup. That’s where Primasia Corporate Services Limited comes in. Not only can Primasia help you in locating a good business partner, they can run a Chinese Company Health Check to ensure business holdings are stable. And when you are ready to dive into your new venture, they can assist with any Visas or permits that are needed, as well as helping with Tax Compliance, reviewing banking and trade documents and get your new business set up with Xero- the best cloud accounting software available!

There are several factors to consider when looking for a business partner. Here are some of the questions you should ask before signing on the dotted line:

What skills do you need from a business partner?

It might be more comfortable to have a business partner that is similar to you, but it’s probably not what your business needs. Your partnership is about coming together to form a well-rounded and fully equipped organization. Look for a business partner who brings something different to the table than you do. If you are creative, maybe you need someone who is detail-oriented. Maybe you are shy and need a someone who is a people person or has good connections. The bottom line is that together, you need to have complementary skills that will produce a successful business.

Are they as committed to the project as you are?

Is your new business partner willing to do what it takes to keep the business running? Everyone in a partnership should be willing to fold their sleeves and get their hands dirty for the good of the company. If you identify laxity in your potential partner, save your time and money, and look for a partner elsewhere.

Are you both willing to put everything in writing?

Often partnerships are started on a simple handshake, but this can lead to disaster. It’s vital to put it on paper- what is expected from each partner and contingency plans. If disaster strikes, or a partner simply isn’t pulling their weight- then it’s essential to be able to move on without destroying the business. If it’s in writing, not only do you both have a solid idea of what is expected of you, but there is no arguing if the venture doesn’t work out as planned.
